2002 - Orange Crush

With the heavy rains turning the Snake off color, it was a challenge to find the right fly. While many anglers went wet with streamers, several anglers chose big dry flies and surprisingly had good luck on a South Fork Chernobyl variation called the Orange Crush. Whether it was the orange body or the way Sam Mavarakis moved the fly, it worked well enough for him to win his second One Fly Individual title. After looking over the totals of fish caught, the Orange Crush was unquestionably the fly of the year.
