This is a stream bank restoration/demonstration project that is part of a larger Farms & Fish Initiative that Friends of the Teton River (FTR) is working on in partnership with fish and wildlife agencies, conservation organizations, and the Teton Valley farming and ranching community to improve fish and wildlife habitat on agricultural-adjacent lands along the Teton River. The proposed project will restore an eroding cut bank at the popular Bates Bridge Public Access, which was recently purchased for recreation, conservation, and habitat improvements. Restoration at this site will serve as a valuable and visible project that demonstrates how diverse stakeholders can effectively collaborate to sustain and steward our fishery by reducing erosion and nitrogen inputs, improving riparian habitat and stream shading, and reducing grazing impacts from cattle on the river ecosystem.
