Friends of the Teton River in partnership with Idaho Fish and Game will study the genetics of YCT above and below Felt Dam. Currently Felt Dam is a fish passage barrier separating the upper and lower populations of YCT.  Felt Dam is currently being considered for re-licensing and a decision will be made soon whether to improve fish passage and construct a fish ladder or to remove the dam which is used for hydropower and restore connectivity of the river. Understanding the genetics and level of hybridization with genetic studies will help with management decisions that will impact YCT conservation strategies.
